Work / Life... Balanced

After high school, I joined the U.S. Army and have worked in project or personnel management roles ever since. My civilian career began in retail and sales management while moonlighting as a stand-up comedian and studying film. An unlikely combination that led to a series of dream jobs in creative production, advertising, and entertainment.

I followed opportunities to work with brands and organizations I love; including Fangoria Magazine, Sirius Radio, NBC/Universal, the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Islanders, MTV, Marvel/Sony, and Marvel/Netflix. It was a treat helping bring stories, campaigns, and creative projects to life. As a young producer in the economic down turn of the Bush era, I earned the nickname Recession Proof, it became the name of my LLC.

In 2019, I was recruited by Troops to Teachers. With little hesitation, I answered the call to service; teaching art, history, and English in New York City's public schools. I spent seven years in the classroom, discovering the truth in Steve Martin's observation that "teaching is the highest form of show biz." Street-smart city kids are the toughest audience in the world.

Along the way, I've been very passionate about wellness and developed a side hustle; and built parallel careers. One in wellness and another creative consulting, while leading overcrowded classrooms in NYC. I named my wellness venture Light Hearts; based on my favorite Shakespeare quote, "light hearts live long."

My career is supported by a BFA in Advertising and Design from The School of Visual Arts, an MFA in Creative Writing from National University, several professional certifications, and awards in comedic filmmaking. More importantly, it's been shaped by a lifelong curiosity about people, their stories, and the many different paths we can take to get where we're going.
