About Joe
A veteran of the US Army, Joe Lipari has been performing improv and stand-up comedy since February 2003; when he first took the stage at the world famous Caroline’s Comedy Club. Since then, Joe has become a favorite at clubs around the country; including top comedy venues like The Improv, Jon Lovitz’s Comedy Club, Gotham Comedy Club, Comix NYC, The Improv Olympic and The People’s Improv Theater.
Off-stage: Joe is an accomplished filmmaker, producer and radio personality. A quick scan of Joe’s IMDB page shows a wide range of projects; from MTV’s hit reality shows The Hills & The City to feature length documentaries and big budget movies with A-listers like Will Smith. As an actor, Joe was set to make his motion picture debut in Eat, Pray, Love: starring Julia Roberts. Unfortunately, his scenes did not make the final cut.
A cousin to comedy legend Fed Allen, Lipari is no stranger to controversy. Joe infamously paraphrased a quote from Fight Club on his Facebook page and was subsequently arrested by NYPD SWAT. Joe was wanted for questioning by Homeland Security, concerning his ties to terrorist activities. A champion of the First Amendment, Joe spent a year fighting various charges to get his name stricken from the Terror Watch List. After his story was picked up by This American Life, Joe has become a folk hero in The U.S and abroad; appearing in the documentary Terms and Conditions May Apply and international newspapers like The Guardian.
